Ukraine wins Eurovision song contest with politically charged 1944 | TheNews Linzer
Singer Jamala calls for ‘peace and love’ after beating rivals with ballad about deportation of Crimean Tatars, seen as criticism of Russia’s actions in 2014
Ukraine has won the 2016 Eurovision song contest with an entry whose politically charged lyrics have caused tensions with neighbouring Russia. Singer-songwriter Jamala was crowned the winner for her haunting rendition of the ballad 1944, which evoked the deportation of Crimean Tatars by Josef Stalin and has been interpreted as a criticism of Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014. As she collected her trophy, she pleaded for “peace and love”.
Before the final, which was held in Stockholm on Saturday evening and seen by many as the most politicised edition of the competition to date, Jamala had said her victory would show that Europeans were “ready to hear about the pain of other people”.
Jamala, whose real name is Susana Jamaladynova, is herself a Crimean Tatar who has not been home since shortly after Russia’s 2014 annexation of the peninsula. Her parents and extended family still live there.
“[If I win,] it will mean that modern European people are not indifferent, and are ready to hear about the pain of other people and are ready to sympathise,” Jamala told the Guardian by phone from the Swedish capital shortly before the contest. Frozen fans urge Disney to give Elsa a girlfriend in sequel
Twitter campaign calls on producers to use Frozen 2 to reveal that blockbuster’s heroine is a lesbian
Twitter users are calling for Disney to give its Frozen heroine Elsa a girlfriend in the blockbuster’s keenly anticipated sequel.
The record-breaking and critically acclaimed 2013 animated film tells of Princess Elsa’s struggle to master her magical powers to reconnect with her sister Anna.
It was widely construed as the studio’s first foray into feminism because it eschewed a traditional happy-ever-after with a prince in favour of sisterly devotion.
Now Twitter users have called upon Disney to give Elsa a girlfriend in Frozen 2, which is currently in production.
Alexis Isabel was the first to use the hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend on Sunday, tagging the studio in her tweet. It has since been retweeted more than 1,500 times. Continue reading...

Why is Kim Kardashian famous? You asked Google – here’s the answer
Every day millions of internet users ask Google life’s most difficult questions, big and small. Our writers answer some of the commonest queries
How do you begin to dissect fame like that of Kim Kardashian? Where do you make the first cut in such omnipresence? Because it’s not just about her, the flesh and bones woman, any more. We exist within her vast show, literally and figuratively. Even if you don’t actively choose to follow her movements, she’s there. Inescapable.
We should start with the unavoidable: the sex tape. In the mid-00s Kardashian wasn’t famous like her friends Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton, for whom she was a stylist. Richie and Hilton were catapulted into the public eye with their feckless and fantastic reality show The Simple Life, blasting a tsunami of velour Juicy Couture and Von Dutch trucker caps into society. They giggled and pouted on every red carpet and magazine cover going. But this kind of fame eluded Kardashian, despite her notorious parents and her social life. Until, that is, her sex tape – recorded in 2003 with her then-boyfriend Ray “Ray J” Norwood – was “leaked” into the public domain. Continue...

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's video is a terrifying insight into state mind control
Beware: don’t do anything to annoy the Australian government. You too may have to record an apology video as toe-curling and excruciating as this pair. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have taught us all a valuable lesson – declare everything when you enter Australia. Failure to notify the authorities that you’re bringing dogs into the country means there’s a good chance the government will kidnap your family and force you to record a grovelling apology while you watch a live-streamed video of them crying and begging for their lives.
I’ve seen the Depp and Heard apology video five times now, and that can be the only possible explanation. There is no universe, theoretical or otherwise, in which Depp and Heard are saying any of this stuff willingly. Something, clearly, must have happened to them.

My three dads – my first loves
Most of us have one father but Sophie Ellis had three, who were life-giving and life-affirming in different ways. She pays tribute to the wonderful men who made her
I turn 30 in June. Among the list of things I feel I can boast about – running a marathon, raising a healthy, happy baby girl, mastering shorthand – the fact that I’ve had three dads feels like a particular privilege. The fact that I’ve lost three dads, less so. Let me explain. My biological father, Derek, had ginger hair and drank cherry cola. He liked British pubs and American baseball. I’m not so sure he wanted children, but he got one anyway and I’m told he liked me very much. Continue.......

Art Basel Hong Kong Opens to Less Frenzy | The Reporter25
The first floor of the Centre for conventions and exhibitions in Hong Kong was already full when Lin have arrived at the opening of Art Basel Hong Kong, most important art fair in Asia.
In the three years since I started buying art, Mr. Lin, a collector based in Beijing, and his wife, Wanwan Lei, both 28, have created a collection at the speed of lightning, the acquisition of more than 298 works. But to the previous view V.I.P. in the art fair in Hong Kong on Tuesday, neither Mr. Lin and the Sra Lei was in a mood to make quick decisions. In fact, some traders noted that the environment, in general, seemed more moderate than the last year, with a smaller number of collectors in attendance, especially in Europe and North America, and less frenetic first day of purchase - not entirely unexpected, given the recent economic slowdown in China.
We just bought a couple of works at TEFAF, so don't we rush to buy anything here, Mr. Lin said, in reference to the European fair of fine arts this month in the Dutch city of Maastricht. On the other hand, he and Ms. Lei were more interested in navigation and the promotion of cockpits M Woods, his Museum of contemporary art in the Art Beijing 797 district.
Some traders were strong sales of reports. David Zwirner, which is scheduled to open a gallery in Asia, presented a stand of figurative paintings mostly, including five works of Michael Borremans made especially for the fair. The five were bought by Asian collectors, among them the Museum long in Shanghai, at prices ranging from $ 240,000 $ 1.5 million.
And Leo Xu Projects, a gallery of Shanghai, reported that it had sold eight works by the Chinese artist Cui Jie from $7,600 and $27,000 in the first 30 minutes of the V.I.P. advance.
Mr. Lin is one of a growing number of young collectors from mainland China, a group described as motivated, knowledgeable dealers and with a taste more adventurous than the older generation of Chinese collectors.
Collectors from mainland China more young people can have a respect for the heavyweight blue-chip Western contemporary artists, said Nick Simunovic, general director of the Gagosian Gallery in Hong Kong. But they are also actively seeking work, which could not have imagined collectors from mainland China who pursue five years ago.
Some dealers noted that some young Chinese collectors do not have the purchasing power of their elders. However, while auctions do not can be looking with their purchases, many are studying and collecting the lesser-known artists. And unlike their older counterparts, who are more likely to have spent time abroad. As a result, traders say many are less concerned about the nationality and feel more comfortable engaged in the purchase of artists who are not Chinese.
personal collection of Mr. Lin, for example, includes works by Tracey Emin and John Currin, but also less established artists like Richard Lin, Ouyang Chun, Florence Lai and Charles Harlan. Recently, Mr. and Mrs. Lin Lei, who earned a degree in administration of the arts at Columbia University, have shown a great interest in the old masters.
Their eclecticism was screened on Tuesday, when Mr. Lin focused on the several works of the architect and artist Bijoy Jain in the booth of Gallery Chemould Prescott Road of Mumbai, India.
It was the closest Mr. Lin came to buy anything on Tuesday. For the next four hours. The Sra Lei; and Presca Ahn, the American director of the Museum, only to take in the spectacle.
Recent slowdown of china's economy seems to have put a brake on the purchase of art for all collectors of the continent, regardless of age, with total sales in the Chinese market's have fallen 22 percent, to $11.7 billion in 2015, according to the Tefaf report. Last year, Britain supplanted China as the second-largest market for sales of art, after the United States, according to the report.
While dealers say that the economic slowdown has been felt more forcefully in the auction houses, the final results of Art Basel Hong Kong still are being studied as an important measure of the situation on the market of art in Asia.
In general, there was the feeling among traders and collectors that the quality of the works at the Hong Kong fair, which this year included a 238 galleries, was stronger than in previous years.
Aspects highlighted among Western galleries including Hauser & Wirth, which brought (Spider couple), a bronze giant Louise Bourgeois sculpture between 2003 and 1967 mobile by Alexander Calder (spider's Web in the morning). Marianne Boesky Gallery presents a solo exhibition of Frank Stella, including a 12-foot-tall wooden star.
Hauser & Wirth said it was in talks with a Museum of Asia about the bourgeois sculpture. The Gallery sells a series of works, including a painting by Mark Bradford for $1.4 million, as well as a painting by Alexander Calder, for an undisclosed amount.
So we decided to bring a different kind of booth this year, big pieces centered around the theme (the spider), so we were hoping that this year will be more about the education of sales, said Neil Wenman, senior director of Hauser & Wirth in London. But we are also very pleased with the sales. We were actually able to connect with a different level of a collector in Asia.
Asian galleries also did a great performance, with Taiwan's Eslite gallery presents a solo exhibition of David Diao. For his first exhibition at the fair, with Beijing-based Studio ink brought a stand dedicated to the Chinese artist Li Huasheng.
The fair has had a reputation for being a dump of galleries, said Adeline Ooi, director for Asia of Art Basel. So But that is changing, and people are taking seriously our clientele.
So although Mr. Lin, who grew up in Beijing and studied in Singapore and Britain, refused to say how much it had invested in the art from 2013, projected that it would spend close to $3 million this year. To configure M Woods, which opened to the public in 2014, estimated its cost at around $1.4 million.
He said part of that money had been lent to him by his parents, both members of an old military which are now in the business. However, he said that most of his wealth came from a public relations firm from a luxury brand founded and real estate investments.
Some people might think that I'm just doing this because I have no money and I'm looking for a hobby, Mr. Lin said, taking a break to drink a little water of coconut in the fair. As well, but for me, art is no longer just a hobby. Art has become a company for me. It could take decisions quickly, but it really is something that I love.

Instagram playboy reveals why he’s risking his life for $600K | The Reporter25
Dan Bilzerian is betting big on a feat which, for the majority, would easily end up with a trip to the emergency room. The multimillionaire showy a shooting gun, High Stakes Poker playing Instagram King who is often photographed with scantily clad women draped in his body torn bet $ 600,000 that he can ride a bicycle from his home in the Hollywood Hills to California sign Las Vegas within 40 hours.
This is no joke, Bilzerian says the post. The 35-year-old has 293 miles to cover if he wants to win. Nobody does that. LA to Las Vegas I have a rise of 13000 feet that is (almost) half of Mount Everest, but I wanted a challenge.
The challenge is the operative word. Bilzerian, at just under 5 feet 10 and 200 pounds, doesn't have the physical from the classic biker and has not gone well for nearly two decades. He calculates that, before starting to prepare in mid-February (one day after the bet has been made), he had spent less than 20 hours in a two-wheeled vehicle in your life.
Top Stories : Deadly explosions rock Brussels airport, subway station
Over the course of training, the most I put together (at the same time) is 53 miles in 4 and a half hours, says Bilzerian, who is no stranger to Wacky bets; He once bet $ 3000 that he could win a round of play tennis without a racket, and ran the Shelby Cobra (pictured above) against a Ferrari for $ 384,000 (Bilzerian triumphed in both).
On the other side of the chain's gas Bill merchant daring Perkins, who started the bet in a game of high stakes poker. Perkins have a penchant for kicking out strange propositions: he once offered $ 500,000 Bilzerian if he would work as a parking attendant at a casino for a month (Bilzerian turned it down).
The mogul originally offered his bet to another player at the table, Rick Salomon (famous for the notorious co_starring video sex Paris Hilton 2001). Salomon turned him down, and a couple of days later, little Bilzerian. Perkins couldn't be happier. I can follow him in an RV, and it's going to be a psychological torture to Dan, says the 47-year-old.
Bilzerian, son of corporate raider Paul Bilzerian (who was convicted of securities violations in 1989 tax_law), grew up in Tampa, Florida. In 1999, a year after receiving his GED (he was expelled from school in his senior year after he was arrested for possession of a machine gun), Bilzerian joined the Navy, was dismissed in 2003 and finally he attended the University of a Florida, where he majored in business and Criminology. It was there, Bilzerian says, he broke playing poker online before you get serious about the game.
To 25 years, while still attending college, Bilzerian suffered a heart attack in Las Vegas Bellagio hotel after being awake for four days and nights with a mix of cocaine and Viagra. He says he took a taxi to the hospital, tried to jump the line waiting room with a bribe of $ 10000, failed at that, and ended up being handled by Conrad Murray, the doctor who was later found guilty of the manslaughter of Michael Jackson.
Just two years later, in 2007, Bilzerian was a presence in the High Stakes Poker in Nevada, where players remember him showing up with a Briefcase full of money. He earned him a nickname; Suitcase Guy. He says he earned his money playing poker but admitted to the Wall Street Journal that he received the money in a trust, which, according to him, kicked him to 35 years.
Bilzerian moved to Las Vegas in 2009 and became notorious for blowing things up in the desert, flying in private jets, fast cars and engage in gambling nosebleed. He claims to have once lost $ 2.3 million in a lottery. Such outrageous stories and photos to go with them have earned him 16.3 million Instagram followers.
But nowadays, it's your training regimen that fills your feed of Instagram. In preparation, Bilzerian has reduced their intake of carbohydrates by 30%, increasing fat in the same amount.
I eat five egg whites and two yolks, oatmeal, fruit and almond butter. So I take a zinc, vitamin C and probiotics, he says of his breakfast, he routinely eat in 13:00 1 hour later, I ride in Red Rock Canyon (outside of Las Vegas) for 4 and a half hours. Then, back home, I have an ice bath and an Epsom Salt bath, get a massage, eat again, and that's my day.
My legs hurt, my Achilles is clicking, my ass is bruised and I lost six pounds.
Fortunately, Bilzerian has an ACE in the hole in the former Pro cyclist Lance Armstrong, who is giving you training tips, covering rhythm, balance, change, and find positions of the hands and the body ideal.
Bill heard that Lance is helping me and offered him a bet; Lance would have to make the trip LA-to-Vegas in 15 hours, says Bilzerian. Lance was considered but refused.
If he gets injured to the point that he cannot complete the ride, going at the end of this month, Bilzerian loses $ 600,000. Even if he doesn't get hurt, the done won't be easy; by comparison, the first two days of the Tour de France cover only 202 miles. Bilzerian can't use engines or tow cables, but he can walk if your legs or bicycles.
Bilzerian says it plans to spend about $ 125,000 in equipment, vans Chase and support staff, including bike technicians, a doctor, two chefs, instructor, masseur and an Assistant. Win or lose, he will have $ 25000 for charity child cancer Armstrong, and if he is victorious, he will use US $ 350,000 to cover a loss of recent poker.
And he plans to do everything you can to increase your chances; I'm going to have a dozen bicycles in one of the vans, and can get a giant tricycle in case your legs hang. I could take Provigil, which is what fighter pilots use to stay focused, he adds. (Says Perkins; Dan can take any drug that he wants me to think this is the worst bet Dan's ever done, he can die.)
Win or lose (but not dead), Bilzerian, figures the recovery promises to be brutal. Predict home and will be surprised if there are skin stays on my ass. You hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

The bad news was all the more. Most notably that before Daryl (Norman Reedus) could get their hands on the beast, the thief used to kill Denise (Merritt Wever).
In terms of scope, pace and tone, (twice as far) was a quite low key, yet delivered two big shocks. In this context, they came almost as afterthoughts. Maybe the show is trying to tell us something about the cruel arbitrary the death in the world of zombies. In this case, mission accomplished.
Denise died at the end of a mission foraging drugs with Daryl and Rosita (Christian Serratos), which she had started and insisted on joining even though she was useless as to a fighter. While out there, she doesn't hear his more experienced teammates and took unnecessary risks, because she had something to prove to herself and possibly his girlfriend Tara, away in his own delivery deadline.
We learn more about Denise in 20 minutes than in all previous appearances combined. Lots of good that'll do now.
Meanwhile, Eugene and Abraham were also out of the complex, fighting as an elderly couple, while searching for a place for the manufacture of an ammunition-new master plan of Eugene. Our uber nerd was a step ahead of Denise in that he thought he had nothing to prove anymore: I changed, adapted. I've become a survivor.
Both teams ended up running into problems because that's what happens when the problem was Dwight, a man of early season The Walking Dead, Which frankly I had completely forgotten about with a diabetic woman and who made out with Balestra of Daryl. The date didn't work out so well for Denise-croaking of Lexa in The 100 things aren't so great for lesbians in post-apocalyptic programs.
But, at least, Eugene was eventually able to bite exactly what he could chew, be gritting your teeth directly in the groin of Dwight long enough to create a distraction for Daryl and co. to fight their attackers. Let's just say that Dwight probably will not be able to have more children.
I mentioned two shocks, and the other is Carol is done with Domesticity and goes somewhere that's not Alexandria. That is an odd choice if your problem is being trapped in a cycle of violence and death. How is better out there? In any case, we have confirmation that the crisis hyperventilates from last week wasn't totally fake after all: the Lady Killer has feelings. Too bad nothing until last week had given us some idea Carol was so conflicted within. In fact, until recently she was reprimanding Morgan for not wanting to kill.

The only fashion designer that matters right now | The Reporter25
He set the fashion world on fire, and there's a good chance that you can't say his name: Demna Gvasalia (pronounced DEEM-Nah go-AH-Liyah). Learn it fast. As both the principle Vetements designer and the new artistic director of Balenciaga, the 34-year-old from Georgia (the country, not the State) has risen in just a few short seasons of relative unknown to the most talked about the tastemaker on both sides of the Atlantic.
Vetements impact, in particular, has been nothing short of seismic-especially on the street. During every month sets, which just wrapped up in the French capital, you can't take a Fendi bag without hitting an editor, designer or blogger wearing Hooded Jackets now the signature brand. Hooked, too, are high-powered celebrity Kim Kardashian, Rita Ora and Selena Gomez. Rihanna, you're never far from a trend, even came out last month in a head-to-toe of the hell hot spring lineup of the label. Not bad for an indie company that is almost as old as the North West.
Vetements, named after the French word for clothes, was formed at the beginning of 2014 as a side project by a collective of seven designers who initially remained in anonymity. Their first seasons attracted cool kids and a handful of influential insiders to Offbeat Parisian locations-an art gallery, the basement of a gay Club, a kitsch style Chinese restaurant to see the clothes: -smart and reconstructed riffs on sportswear basics with absurdly large proportions. Think pós-normcore.
By the second year, Gvasalia-who studied at the Royal Academy of fine arts of Antwerp before stints in Maison Martin Margiela and Louis Vuitton-had been identified as creative lead. Last fall, he was tapped to replace Alexander Wang in Balenciaga. Last week, his debut collection for the House floors attracted praise. And now? Wish lists.

"Deadpool 'Box Office: Film 'X-Men' Movie Ever $ 55M Weekend And $ 235m 10-Day cume
Deadpool topped the weekend the Treasury for the second weekend in a row, earning a hefty $ 55 million through the frame. It is perfectly reasonable to 58% decline from the gonzo 132,200,000 $ Friday-Sunday opening weekend last weekend. It is the biggest second weekend # 2 for the R-rated film, for $ 64 m second weekend American Sniper (a decline of only 27%) last year. It is still 13. the biggest R-rated weekend record. It is 21. the biggest second weekend of all time, and 23. the largest non-opening weekend in the record, for $ 88 m and $ trees third weekends (in that order) Star Wars: The Force wakes up and Avatar.
With $ 235,390,000 in just ten days, the film is already the sixth largest R-rated grosser of all time, just ahead of the $ 234 m gross (in 1984) from Beverly Hills Cop. "next up is the Party in Bangkok ($ 254 m), The Hangover ($ 277 m), The Matrix Reloaded ($ 281 m), and (if it picks up and can keep screens the following month) the American Sniper ($ 350 m) and the passion of the Christ ($ 377 m). If you want to play the "adjusted-for-inflation game" it is currently 68. the biggest R-rated hit, which openly makes sense, because so many of the biggest R-rated movies comes from the time when Hollywood regularly made R-rated breaks.
For a comparison of Walt Disney the Avengers fell 50% on its second weekend, Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc. The Dark Knight dropped 52%, Disney's Avengers: Age of Ultron dropped 59%, and Warner is the Dark Knight rose fell 62%. By the way, if it gets past the weekend 56.260.000, when final figures are released tomorrow $ (not a guarantee), it goes Day Valentine's day $ 56.26 m opening weekend and be the sixth biggest February weekend at all. Oh, and the movie probably topped $ 400 metres around the world this weekend (I'll update when foreign characters roll), which means that it is between the somewhat rare R-rated films to hit that milestone. It was all on a budget of $ 58 m and in 2D, on the side.
To date, Deadpool is 17. the largest superhero film (Yes, I counted The Matrix Reloaded) and 17th-largest comic book movie of all time in America. And it has topped $ 210 million domestic gross 300 to become the biggest R-rated comic book movie ever. On top of the Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc. releases $ 456 m worldwide in total should be sometime this week. I am aware of inflation, but we can have that conversation after the film gets closer to the end of its run.
The stupid videos Live response Saturday Night (and Kayne West type rant reduces the requirements for fan powered by hosting the show) didn't hurt the cause, keeping the film in the spotlight and highlight their viral/social media-friendly marketing. And it's also the biggest X-Men movie ever. Yeah, just ten days of domestic games, the film surpassed the total of $ 234.2 million from X-Men: the last stand, as well as $ 233.9 m 3D inflatable X-Men: Days of Future Past. So yeah, from eight of the X-Men movies in 16 years, with the ninth and tenth day this year, somehow cheap and R-rated comedic spin-off becomes the biggest of the bunch. It's just ... weird.
I think I'm sure Minions out-earned on the Despicable Me movies, but those little yellow guys were a big part of the first two films. It would be if one of those Sony Spider-Man spin-off projects (Venom, aunt May, etc.), Which would have threatened that ended up to be a bigger hit than other traditional homemade Spider-Man movies. The same applies in the case, Paramount/Viacom Inc. 's planned Bumblebee-centric Transformers spin-off somehow out-grosses to $ 409 m domestic gross of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Yeah, you can see how weird it is. It's not bad, just really unusual, and frankly, those things that will encourage more perhaps unnecessary by-products from other popular series. But again, it's not Deadpool error.
And if you want to play the inflation card, it's now between $ 209 million "net" total X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and $ 244 m pure total number of X-Men: Days of Future Past. And $ 253 m modified a total of X-Men, to $ 310 m total impact X 2: X-Men United and $ 311 m modified a total of X-Men: The Last Stand should be overcome, Mr Wilson at a time when the movie is finished.
From the point of view of all the movies based on Marvel Comics, it sits at # 12 among the X-Men: The Last Stand, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (259 m $, but again with this 3D blow). If it stops in the course of the next few weeks (and it should run the table next weekend as well), it could end up being bigger than any Marvel movie (MCU or otherwise) among The Avengers Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, and the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy. And depending on how high rises, Spider-Man 3 ($ 336 yards in 2007) and Spider-Man 2 ($ 373 m in 2002), may be in danger.
To be honest, it's the kind of performance that sets a terrible precedent for the rest of the year, the would-be biggies, in particular the other seven comic book superhero movies, the fact that it is so big, so fast, though, that something from the movie B-level/charakter. Me thinks that Fox will be healing in the Big Balloon Adventure Deadpool as the biggest of the big events for a few years. And it opens up to a barrage of questions and options for Fox wannabe comics properties, but it is at the end of this week.
