Donald Trump swept to victory in his home state of New York on Tuesday, reviving his hopes of winning the Republican party nomination outright. The billionaire businessman was always expected to thrive in his home state and there was never much doubt that he would defeat Ted Cruz, the Texas senator whose brand of conservatism went down badly here, and Ohio governor John Kasich, who struggled to make an impact.
